Update on the 105 Cushing Fire

Thank you to everyone who reached out to help our neighbors during this trying time. Together, we donated over $4,000 in supplies to the families affected (huge thank you to Danielle Ciofani for her efforts here)! They are still seeking long-term accommodations and waitlists are long – if you happen to have leads on multi-bedroom apartment rentals < $2000k a month, please let me know.

Student Summer Job Opportunity – Applications Due TODAY – Click here to Apply

Cannistraro, a local mechanical contractor, is now accepting applications for the Heavy Metal Summer Experience. Participants in the program spend one week in Cannistraro’s Seaport fabrication shop, receiving hands-on mentorship from master tradespeople. Students complete projects in pipe and sheet metal, learn about career paths in the construction trades, and spend a day touring union training centers.

The program is cost-free, and Breakfast, lunch, vouchers for work boots, and assistance with transportation is provided. The program is open to students who are rising sophomores or older, and students from both vocational schools and non-vocational schools are encouraged to apply. A total of 14 students will be selected for the program. Cannistraro hopes this opportunity will motivate groups that are typically underrepresented in the building trades to apply, and especially encourages girls, students of color, and Boston residents to apply.
